Learning Reimagined: The Opportunities and Challenges of a Globally Networked World
Our new connected world of abundant information and technologies is forcing us to re-envision almost everything about schools, classrooms, teachers and students. It requires that we think deeply about the different supports and experiences that modern learners need to be successful. In this session, we will explore the big questions that come with this new territory, and look at ways to begin reframing the long-term conversations around change and the reimagining of learning and schooling.

The Future of Learning
In this talk, Sugata Mitra will take us from the origins of schooling to the dematerialisation of institutions as we know them. Thirteen years of experiments in children’s education reveals a series of startling results – children can self-organise their own learning, achieve educational objectives on their own and learn to read independently. The most startling result of all: groups of children with access to the internet can learn anything by themselves. From the slums of India to the villages of Cambodia; to poor schools in Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, the US and Italy to the rich international schools of Washington and Hong Kong – Sugata’s experimental results show a strange new future for learning.

The discussion about the future of education during a Q&A session with Will Richardson and Sugata Mitra, hosted by ABC radio presenter, Jon Faine (by arrangement with Australian Speakers Bureau).
